Black Walnut Serving Board

with a textured cermaic bowl and curry chicken skewers

I finished another project, which led to some good design problems.

  1. When something goes wrong with your design, how do you view it?

    1. Failure

    2. Opportunity to learn

    3. Inspiration

  2. Finishes on material make a big difference. The first board did not articulate the grain as I had hoped. In contrast, the second board did, but the hi-gloss finish took away the warmth. If I were to do it again, I would look for something blending the two finishes… but that is just my taste.

  3. Designing the food element of this project forced me to think backward. What would accent the board and bowl rather than the other way around?
