A few design captures from this project.
Boxes are an excellent introduction to woodworking, offering flexibility to match your skill level. They can be as simple or complex as you wish, but achieving perfectly square 90-degree corners—a fundamental skill—can be surprisingly challenging for beginners. Despite this, boxes are great starter projects because they are quick to complete and relatively inexpensive.
If you're unsure about your design, working at full scale can make visualizing the final product much easier. Taking direct measurements from key elements, like a ramekin in this case, ensures more accurate sizing and alignment.
Exploring new techniques, such as hand-building, is a valuable way to expand your skills. Although it might have been simpler to create the ramekins on a pottery wheel, experimenting with a different method provided an opportunity for growth and learning.
And after writing "ramekin" so many times, I’m finally confident in spelling it correctly—no judgment, please!
